What is CBD?

Cannabidiol or CBD is one of the main active ingredients extracted from the cannabis or hemp plant. It's a non-psychoactive compound which means that it has no intoxicating effects. The substance known as THC or Tetrahydrocannabinol is what produces the psychoactive effects or "high" sensation.

The main goal of using CBD is to help our endocannabinoid system.

Types of CBD

Companies that produce CBD products extract the substance from the plant using a wide range of methods. The different diffusions lead to a variety of CBD kinds.

There are three varieties of CBD, each with a unique combination of ingredients and concentrations:

Full-spectrum CBD: Consists of all the compounds of the entire cannabis plant. Products with full spectrum contain less than 0.2% THC.

Broad-spectrum CBD: This includes most of the cannabis plant's components. Broad-spectrum products, as opposed to full-spectrum products, do not include THC.

CBD Isolates: They do not include THC or any other cannabinoids besides CBD.

What is a CBD isolate?

CBD isolate is CBD in its purest form. The isolate is free of contaminants and additives. If you're worried about ingesting any THC, CBD isolate or broad spectrum is the way to go.

What differentiates CBD isolates from the other types is that terpenes and cannabinoids present in the hemp plant are absent from CBD isolates. Unlike the other two types of CBD which can have an earthy taste, the isolates can be recognised by their white colour, lack of odour, and tastelessness. The purity of CBD isolates is 99+%.

CBD isolates have the same CBD content as other forms of CBD. Isolates don't contain terpenes, cannabinoids, and THC found in the other CBD forms.

How are CBD isolates made?

The CBD is extracted from hemp extract using ethanol or supercritical CO2. The creation of CBD isolate requires a more thorough extraction method. The extraction begins in the same way that CBD or hemp oil is made. However, the industrial hemp compound is still present in the concentrated CBD even after the initial extraction.

After the initial extraction, there is a purification procedure so that manufacturers can obtain CBD isolates in their purest form. This involves a filtration stage in which all plant components are removed from the extract. The extracted oil undergoes a "winterisation process" after the filtration step to remove the remaining plant matter.

The residual extract is then exposed to a post-processing process that decarboxylates it and causes it to adopt a crystalline structure. The end product is a fine isolate powder that is flavourless and odourless and has all of cannabidiol's health advantages.

Types of CBD Isolate

The versatility of CBD isolate makes it a popular choice. CBD crystals can be found in various basic forms, including the following:

Slab

When CBD is extracted from the full-spectrum extract, the end product is a slab rather than a powdered CBD isolate. The slab is then divided into manageable pieces that can be applied to other CBD uses. CBD isolate slabs are favoured by CBD vapers because of how simple it is to use in various applications.

Powder

The most popular form of CBD isolation is the powder. They are simple to use and versatile enough to be added to almost anything.

The CBD isolate slab is crushed to create the white powder form.

Isolate-based products

Almost every CBD-containing product on the market, including CBD isolate oils. Due to its lack of flavour and aroma, which makes it simple to incorporate into foods and beverages, some people prefer CBD isolate oils to other forms.

Terpsolate

One disadvantage of CBD isolates is that all of the key cannabis components are lost. To address this, some businesses frequently reintroduce some of the terpenes from hemp into the isolate to produce a product called terpsolate.

As a result, a fragrant product that is highly favoured for inhaling is produced.

Benefits of CBD Isolate

In general, it is understood that CBD works by interacting with the cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) in the human body. These receptors exist because the human body produces cannabinoids, which have the potential to influence a variety of bodily activities, including the following:

Appetite

Memory

Mood

According to a study done on mice, CBD isolate does have certain health advantages. Some of these might not, however, have the same impact as using a full-spectrum CBD product.

The study's findings suggest that CBD isolate only works against pain and inflammation at a certain dose. Full-spectrum CBD products, on the other hand, will continue to have growing benefits as the dosage rises.

Yet, those who must avoid having any THC in their systems or those who do not require a full-spectrum CBD product might still benefit from using CBD isolation.

CBD Isolate vs CBD Oil

Cannabidiol oil made from the entire hemp plant compound contains trace levels of THC. Unlike CBD isolate, full-spectrum CBD may fall under CBD oil and can be purchased lawfully in the UK if it has a THC content of 0.2% or less.

Even though the dose is low and may not result in any psychoactive side effects, it should still be noted that THC can still be detected in the system.

Frequently asked CBD Isolate questions

Why are CBD isolates white?

CBD isolates are odourless and tasteless white crystalline powder form. First-time users might wonder why CBD isolates are white rather than green given that they are taken from a green plant.

If you've used other CBD products, you may have noticed that they have a dark greenish-brown colour, usually caused by the manufacturing process. Cannabinoids are purified using a chemical process called chromatography to create products like the isolate.

The terpenes that give CBD its flavour and colour are removed throughout the process. What remains is the pure isolate.

Can CBD isolate get you high?

CBD isolation is the purest form of CBD available. It doesn't contain THC, a substance that has psychoactive compounds. This means that you cannot get high from it.

How does CBD isolate make you feel?

It all depends on how much CBD you consume. CBD may typically make you feel alert, focused, and energised. However, consuming large amounts of CBD may cause you to feel drowsy and lethargic.

What are the effects of CBD isolate?

The use of CBD has reportedly resulted in minor side effects. Typically, novice users or those who take too much CBD report experiencing most of these adverse effects. Common side effects of CBD include:

Nausea

Dry mouth

Diarrhoea

Rashes (when used topically)

Always start with a low dose of CBD. Then, work your way up after observing the results to develop a tolerance in your body.

How much CBD Isolate should I consume?

There isn't a recommended dose of CBD for you to take. You should start with the smallest dose possible. Monitor your body for some time before adjusting your CBD dosage.

To avoid unfavourable side effects, you should also consult with your healthcare physician before using CBD. Typically, they would recommend a maximum CBD dosage of 70mg per day.

How should I consume CBD?

The versatility of CBD isolate is one of its advantages. It may be included in food and beverages. It's done by diluting the CBD isolate with carrier oils like coconut oil (MCT oil), or hemp seed oil. This makes it simple to consume CBD orally.

You can also use CBD body creams, and vape items.

Vaping has always been the quickest way of consuming CBD. Because of its high bioavailability, it allows CBD to enter the bloodstream immediately. Sublingual administration comes next in a close second.
