When is the Best Time to Take CBD: Morning or Night?

Best time to take CBD

CBD or Cannabidiol is a compound extracted from the cannabis plant. Due to the increasing popularity of CBD in recent years, questions are being asked by those who want to try CBD oil for the first time. One of the most commonly asked questions is “When is the best time to take CBD?”.

This guide will provide you with the answer about the ideal time to take CBD oil, how much you should take, its beneficial effects, as well as some of the CBD products that we offer on CBD Shopy that you can include in your daily routine.

When Should You Take CBD?

There is no perfect time of day to take CBD. The ideal time to take CBD is whenever you feel it fits into your daily plan. Many prefer to take CBD in the morning, while some prefer taking them at night. To know when the best time is to take CBD, you also need to decide what time of day your body responds best to CBD, the type of product you’re using, and your purpose for taking it. Here’s a guide to help you figure out the best time to take CBD oil depending on your goals.

Taking CBD in the Morning

While it won’t necessarily deliver an instant increase of energy like your morning coffee, some people prefer to take their CBD in the morning.

If you like to exercise in the morning, some people like to use CBD sprays or creams in the morning after their workout too.

Taking CBD at night

If none of the morning benefits of taking CBD is on top of your list, then you might want to take CBD at night. Taking CBD at night, is arguably the most common time to take the supplement.

CBD usually comes in dropper bottles but it can also be taken in capsule form or gummies. To know more about how you can take CBD, click here.

How Long Does it Take To Feel CBD Effects?

Generally, the time it would take for you to feel the effects of CBD depends on your chosen method. There are several methods to consume CBD. These include taking CBD edibles, CBD oils, and CBD topicals.

CBD topicals like balms, ointments, and lotions are directly applied to the skin. Unlike CBD edibles, they will target the cannabinoid receptors in the skin to produce its soothing effects. CBD topicals have an onset time of 45 to 60 minutes after application and would take at least 5 hours to go away. However, in some cases, feeling the CBD effects could take up to 2 hours.

CBD oils are usually taken sublingually. This involves placing a few drops of oil under your tongue and letting the compound dissolve for at least 30-60 seconds before swallowing. Taking CBD oils sublingually has a faster onset. It would typically take around 15 minutes for you to feel the effects of CBD, and they usually go away after 4 hours.

Ingesting CBD edibles like gummies and capsules is the most popular way to take CBD as they are discreet and the easiest way to get your daily dose of CBD. CBD can also have an earthy taste that some people don’t like so taking CBD edibles is a great option. However, taking CBD edibles would take a bit longer for the effects to kick in, at least 30 to 45 minutes, as they still need to pass through your digestive tract.

How much CBD should I take?

There is no standard dosage of CBD. Your ideal dosage of CBD depends on a lot of factors like your body weight, individual body chemistry, body fat, the condition you’re treating, and the concentration of CBD in the product you’re using. Typically, we recommend the lowest dose of CBD which is 5mg and may increase depending on the desired effects.

For CBD oils and CBD gummies, the labels would tell you how much CBD is in a single serving. CBD oils usually come in a dropper bottle and the packaging often specifies how much CBD is in a single drop. We recommend starting with 5 mg of CBD oil, 3 times per day and increasing your dosage gradually over the next few weeks. Gummies are also easily dosed because each gummy comes with a set CBD concentration. Most CBD gummy dosages are formulated in 10mg or 25mg of CBD per gummy. For first time users, the recommended dosage is 1 to 2 gummies per day.

CBD topicals are a little bit harder to dose. They often deliver 3mg to 8mg per topical application but the effects can be different from person to person. What feels strong to you may not feel as strong to someone else. This is because every person has a different body mass and how our skin absorbs CBD are different. If you want to try using CBD topicals, you might need to experiment a little to know what works best for you.

How Often Should You Use CBD Oil?

According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), you can take no more than 70mg of CBD per day. Also, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), you’re highly unlikely to overdose on CBD oil which means that you can take CBD daily to get its maximum health benefits.

However, you might experience some adverse effects if you take too much CBD oil. These can include upset stomach, nausea, dry mouth, or change of appetite. This usually happens when you’re a CBD newbie, or if the product you used is too strong for you. Additionally, CBD may also interact with other medications you’re taking like blood thinners and can cause negative side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider before you try CBD oil to know how you can take it safely.
